Heart For Haiti Appeal

Benefit Concert

Friday 12 February, 2010 Victoria Hall, Hanley

From the Rev Ashley Cooper:

We have all been shocked and saddened by the news from the Capital City of Haiti, Port-Au-Prince. Haiti was already a country with massive problems, lack of infrastructure and severe poverty.
Before this tragic earthquake took place agencies like ‘Compassion’ were working tirelessly to support the poorest communities, families and particularly children. Compassion had over 20 projects working in Port-Au-Prince, projects that provide education, medical support, food and clothing and where necessary shelter and core family support. These projects made a massive difference in bringing transformation to this desperate country.

The earthquake of 13th Jan has destroyed many of these projects, it has ripped communities apart and taken away some of the infrastructure that could make a difference at a time it is so desperately needed.
‘Heart for Haiti Appeal’ seeks to rebuild some of these important projects making sure that the care, support and provision these projects bring are working again quickly.
All money raised will reach the projects directly so that the maximum amount can be used effectively.

We have already been amazed by offers of support and have now put in place a benefit concert on Feb 12th 2010, this is possible because of the massive support of the Victoria Hall and those who will offer equipment and time to make this happen. No-one involved will be receiving payment for their time.
Artists will include:-

Kev Whitmore (ECG Artist), Blush (a band working with ‘The Message Trust’ in Manchester), The Abundant Life Worship Team (Coming from one of the UK’s largest Churches) and the fantastic Yfriday (one of the UK’s foremost worship bands) . There will also be lots of special guests and the latest news from Compassion Projects in Port-Au-Prince.
More info on the bands can be found at.
