Sudan Prayer Update

Following the burning of three villages and displacement of tens of thousands of people from Abyei town, an agreement was reached to pull all non-Joint Integrated Unit forces out of Abyei. Relative calm has been restored – there have been no further villages burned and no reports of fighting since Sunday. However, previous agreements have been respected by one side only. If Southern forces pull out but Northern militias claim they are Misseriya migrating through the area and do not pull out, Southerners will see this as more evidence of the international community rewarding violence from the North. Recent satellite images suggest neither side is respecting the agreement as yet.

Please pray for:

  • Provide for those displaced by recent violence

  • A changed policy from the international community

  • Grieve with God for those killed in South-South violence in Upper Nile & Jonglei

For more information or for a talk on this subject please contact Tim Flatman tflatman@gmail.com or 07595 908 405
