Keele Biblical Assembly - Why ‘what goes without saying’ must be said – 1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Keele Biblical Assembly is an annual gathering of Christians which exists to promote the expository preaching of God’s Word. Many people are longing for a true revival and reformation of the Church. At the centre of any such desire must be the Scriptures, the Word of God. Such a longing should be more than just a notion to which we subscribe; we need people who are going to proclaim God’s Word faithfully with clarity and conviction. It is hoped that the annual Keele Biblical Assembly will help toward making this a reality.

The Assembly is delighted to welcome Hugh Palmer, Rector of All Souls Langham Place, London. Hugh has had a passion to share and to explain the Christian faith ever since he was introduced to it as a student by a college friend. Hugh began his ordained ministry in Norwich and has served in St Helen’s Bishopsgate, London under Dick Lucas and Sheffield before going to All Souls 2005. His ministry has involved him in many student and parish missions, and he currently chairs New World Alive.

Date: Wednesday 20 October

Time: 7:30pm for 8pm start

Venue: Keele University Westminister Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 5BG

Cost: There is no charge to anyone coming to the assembly. A freewill offering will be made at the end of the meeting so that our expenses can be met.

For more details contact Howard Mason on 01782 849937 or Iain Barker on 01782 772895 or visit www.keelebiblicalassembly.org.uk

Faith Group Conference: Thursday 11 November 2010

Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority are committed to ensuring that all residents across the City and County live long, healthy and safe lives.

In line with this commitment, a conference is being staged to which all faith groups from across Staffordshire are being invited. This event will be held at Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters on Thurs 11 November 2010, commencing at 9.00 am and finishing at 1:30 pm. A buffet lunch will be provided.

The aim of the conference is to inform, raise awareness and share information about how you and your organisation can work with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to assist in achieving the positive outcomes highlighted above.

Faith groups often come into contact with vulnerable people who would benefit from our proactive services. Sadly we are not always aware of those in need and occasionally they experience the trauma of a fire that could have been prevented.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and partners are aiming, through this conference, to provide you and your organisation with details of the range of proactive services we provide and how the Fire and Rescue Service and its partners can contribute to improving the lives and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

In support of this event in November, we are currently working in partnership with such organisations as the Saltbox Christian Centre, the Lichfield CoE Diocese, CLASP and various faith forums to publicise this conference and would very much appreciate if you would therefore consider joining us on the 11th. We hope that you will also pass this invitation to other faith based community workers involved in home visits to invite them to join us as well.

We have limited places available therefore an early response will be appreciated. You can send your reply by emailing r.watson@staffordshirefire.gov.uk.

In your reply, could you indicate the following:

· Your attendance or not

· Your role within your organisation and the age range/needs of the people that you visit

· Any preferred dietary requirements.

This will greatly help us with the organising of this event.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Climb Mount Sinai over the Easter bank holiday weekend – 2011

Trip Dates: 21 - 26 April 2011

Purpose: To raise funds for GMI (Gulu Mission Initiative)

Cost: £999 per person

Description of trip:

This is an unforgettable trip, to climb Mount Sinai over the Easter bank holiday weekend in 2011, the highlight being summiting Mount Sinai in time to see the sun rise on Easter Sunday. The holy peak stands 2882 metres above sea level. According to Christian tradition this is the biblical Mount Horeb where Moses received the tablets of the law with Ten Commandments. We start this trip at night, pick you up from your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh, and then drive in an air conditioned bus into the desert for around 2 hours until the holy valley of St Catherine is reached. There are two ways to reach the peak of the mountain: one consists of 3750 steps made by monks and the other one is a normal road carved by Egyptian authorities in the 19th century, it is an indirect route which can be traversed on foot or on animal back. On the top of Mount Sinai is a chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity. To the north of the chapel is a cave where traditional holds that God put Moses. The view from the peak is truly breathtaking and well worth the efforts of ascending. In the morning we’ll visit the famous monastery of St Catherine and you will see all of its treasures and come close to the life of the monks. Breakfast will be in St Catherine city. After the visits, we will drive you back to your hotel. You will have a day to relax, enjoy and unwind in Sharm el Sheikh and then fly back to the UK on the last day.

“This trip is of a moderate intensity and so is suitable for most hill climbers. We are AALA Licensed, ATOL protected and have staff that are fully qualified and are members of the ‘Association of mountaineering instructors’. From each person that participates in this once in a lifetime trip included in the costs shown above is a £100 donation to the GMI charity and so no further fund raising is required although would be welcomed”.

The trip itself will be done by Msl Mountaineering Ltd and all of there information is displayed on their website: www.msl-mountaineering.com

For additional information regarding the GMI charity then please go to our website: www.gulumission.org or alternatively contact us on 01782 657206

If you wish to join us on this opportunity then please feel free to contact us on the Msl website above or call on the contact shown above and quote ‘NIGEL001’.
